SENSE LIFE - INDIE ANIMATED FILM
[WORKED: BACKGROUND ARTIST AND CHARACTER DESING.]

"Sense Life" is a Brazilian comic book that will be adapted into an animated film, and I am currently working on it, mainly on the backgrounds. The adaptation will be produced by the indie studio "Nambu" and published on YouTube. The teaser is already available on the site. Here, you will see what I worked on for the project's teaser, which you can watch by clicking on the image at the top of the page.

I was responsible for creating the backgrounds, including the illustration of the huge crater in the middle of the town and several city shots, incorporating the director's feedback.

I also assisted in correcting the animation’s shadows and adding texture to the plaque.

Additionally, for the pilot, which is yet to be released, I created a design for a minotaur. The final design is available on Nambu’s Instagram (@urutaustudio), and this page showcases the creative process. For the upcoming pilot, I worked on the minotaur’s design, exploring different approaches ranging from ethereal to stone-like versions.

"Out of Water-Box" is a short film I am currently developing independently. It features a tiny, primitive alien creature named Jelly who dreams of leaving the ocean. The film follows Jelly’s journey as she builds the courage to finally take her first step onto the sand. This section presents part of the development process behind my vision for the final product, including concept art, character creation, and aesthetic references.

Jelly’s creative process:Jelly’s design began with silhouette exploration to define her visual identity and readability. I focused on creating a fragile yet curious shape language that would contrast with the vastness of her environment. From there, I refined her proportions and experimented with color palettes to reinforce her connection to the ocean while subtly hinting at her desire to step beyond it. The final palette balances softness and vibrancy, supporting both her vulnerability and her sense of wonder.

concept arts:Through these concept explorations, I developed the visual direction of the world and its native creatures. Drawing from Paleolithic influences, I aimed to evoke a primitive ecosystem shaped by early survival instincts and organic environmental forms. The visual tone balances softness and simplicity with subtle surreal elements, guiding the aesthetic language of the short film.
